SMM Grand National opens registration for international teams

SMM Grand National DotA Tournament is just around the corner and registration for international teams is finally open. So if your team is interested, hurry up and register.

Teams eligible to register themselves as an international team are countries that do not have an official SMM qualifier which are Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Teams from every other country are welcome to register.

As announced by SMM's Head tournament admin, Tong Teck Lim on DotA Talk, there will be a limit of teams coming from one country. The exact limit is unknown at the moment, but it will be a maximum of either three or four teams per country. Defending champions, EHOME, will not count towards the country limit.

In addition, there will be a maximum number of 64 teams for the event, with 36 of them being reserved for the qualified Malaysian teams. So better be quick if you want to stand a chance at participating in this event.

If there are more teams registering for their countries, teams will be prioritized based on a first come first serve basis. Proof of travel will be required to secure a slot for any team.

Registration link is available below and deadline for registration is 20th November 2011 (GMT+8)

G-League Season 3 is back with $42,000 prizepool

The stage is set once again as teams battle it out in the ever grand and illustrious G-League Season 3. This season, the total prizepool has been increased from 180,000 RMB to a whopping 270,000 RMB, with majority of that money ($32,000) going to the eventual champions.

The second season of the infamous G-League concluded with juggernaut team DK defeating WE three games to one and taking home $23,500. As usual, Season 3 qualifications will play out in various states with six teams advancing into an offline semi-finals. Then, playoffs will proceed to determine the two finalists with the grand finals held sometime next month.

Season 3, however, brings a twist - two mystery teams will be invited to join the six qualified teams which means that there may be the possibility of international teams battling it out in G-League for the very first time.

As of yet, news of participating teams have not been released but one thing is for sure - this season's prizepool will certainly attract the creme de la creme of Chinese DotA.

Ukrainian gold at ESWC 2011

Natus Vincere repeatedly triumph in a major LAN tournament. In the rematch of the Gamescom final against EHOME, the Ukrainians showed no signs of weakness and remain unchallenged in Dota 2, cashing-in 12,000$ as champion.

While EHOME had earned their slot in the final after erasing 4GL, the Chinese were not able to put up lasting resistance in both games. The first encounter had been won by Na`Vi based on picks and play, starring a roaming Butcher by Dendi who landed clutch hooks beyond countable. Disorganized Chinese heroes were hunted down seperately by an aggressively roaming Na`Vi squad until the fastly approaching surrender.

Although EHOME stepped up in terms of coordination in the second game, the Ukrainian tripple lane with AA as Night Stalker achieved a big lead, initiated by a 2-0 fight in the sentinel woods before the bell of creeps rang. Despite having done a better job defending and counter-ganking the gold difference leaned to heavily in Na`Vi's favour to pull off a comeback and keep the chance to defend their title alive.

ESWC 2011 Dota 2 standings
1st Place: Natus Vincere - 12,000$
2nd Place: EHOME - 6,000$
3rd Place: GamersLeague - 4,000$
